F-80 with Masawa Tanks

F-80
Shooting Star

A great winter project. Add the EVF and batteries in the spring.

The F-80 "E" Class

We have completely redesigned the internal structures of the fuselage to reduce weight, simplify the assembly process, and increase the propulsion efficiency of the EVF powered F-80 kit.

The Advanced Fabrication System (AFS) wing and empennage structures are Obecki skinned, carbon cloth reinforced foam format.  The phenolic wing tube receptacles are factory installed and the control surfaces are surface flexed hinged, making the wing and tail surfaces very easy to finish.

Critical fuselage formers are now machined from carbon fiber/end grain balsa for maximum strength and 1/2lb weight savings.

Wings and tails will soon be grey colored all-composite structures.

   The matched molded main gear
cover panel and doors are now 3
axis machine cut for perfect outline.

Specs:

Wingspan:  72" + Tanks
      Power:  EVF ~2~ 12S
     Weight:  18-19 lbs.

The Undercarriage

The landing gear and its mounting system are the strongest possible for this size and weight model.  One has to try hard to cause injury here.

The latest BVM V-Lite wheels/tires offer significant weight savings and excellent ground handling.

Instructions

The new instruction manual and full size C.A.D. plans are extremely detailed and complete, adding to your hobby enjoyment.  We even include  finishing techniques to help you achieve that look of realism.

Flying The F-80

See video from Joe Nall '08 F-80 with EVF power

It's a 72" span, straight wing fighter jet with a Korean War heritage.  Add your choice of 3 types of wing tip tanks and the visibility just can't get any better.

And, when its powered by the award winning Electric VioFan, the performance and reliability rivals that of a turbine powered model.

Note: the prototype flies very well as a speed brake equipped, no flap model.
