Viojett Fan Unit (for BVM .91/.96 & O.S. .91)

Viojett Fan Unit
Patented Performance, 13+ lbs thrust at 24,000 rpm (BVM .91R)
Two patents are the starting point of what separates Viojett performance from all others.

Our novel concept of "Constant Area Rule" is the cornerstone of our performance differentiation. With this principle, the fan shroud is designed with a larger diameter in the rear than the front, thereby compensating for the additional area of the engine's cylinder. This eliminates any pressure loss due to the engine being in the duct.

With a narrow 4.9" diameter, the Viojett is also one of the smallest diameter fans on the market, making it ideal for models with scale size inlets and tail pipes.

With the exception of the engine mount, which is investment cast and machined aluminum, Viojett components are molded from high strength carbon fiber composite plastic. Aft cylinder and centerbody fairings, also supplied, are molded from lightweight epoxy fiberglass. The one-piece rotor is supplied fully trued and individually hand-balanced to perfection. Due to the low parts count, the unit is extremely rugged and trouble free.

While soft mounts are relatively new to aerobatic flight, they're old hat for the Viojett. The unit uses custom engineered shock mounts that isolate engine vibration from the airframe. This feature helps BVM planes have an exceptionally long life.

SAFTEY FIRST
Starting your Viojett unit is sheer simplicity. Simply pressurize the fuel tank, insert the BVM starter probe into the rotor hub, attach the igniter, and spin your starter. At no time are you or your fingers exposed to any part of the rotor when it is installed in a BVM model.

The Viojett accepts the BVM .91 or the O.S. 91 ducted fan engines. Instructions describe both installations.

Superior performance is demonstrated at Fan Fly speed events. These events are totally dominated by BVM power systems and airframes. BVM scale jets powered with the Viojett/BVM .91 won every major scale competition in 1994-95, including the 1st World Jet Masters - now that's performance and reliability!

Area Rule Concept
This photo displays the "area-rule" concept that allows the air to flow around the engine cylinder as if it weren't there. Conventional fan designs experience a severe back pressure on to the fan blades that definitely disturbs the air flow.
