Kerosene fueled turbine engines have special fuel cell requirements.
Most plastic model airplane fuel tanks are not large enough or of the correct shape to put the fuel where we need it and most are not strong enough to avoid bursting in the event of a crash.
BVM addressed this need for their line of turbine compatible models with these custom made Kevlar fuel cells. Kevlar is well known for its extreme resistance to puncture and tearing so it is the perfect material to use. Race cars have incorporated this technology for many years to protect the drivers from crash induced fuel explosions.
These Kevlar cells are molded in 2 pieces and joined by the modeler using BVM's AeroPoxy glue and fitted with special hardware. Some fuel cells come with baffles and all systems come with the Ultimate Air Trap tank.
Of course they are designed to maximize the fuel volume in the BVM models but they may fit into your special project. Full size drawings of the cells are available from BVM. Shown here are the Bandit system (2.4L), the F-80/T-33 system (2.4L) and the MiG-15 system (3.0L). Additional systems to fit other BVM jets are available.
