Many hours of bench running a newly developed engine is part of an engine manufacturer's routine. When all of that is satisfactory, and in the USA, the AMA Turbine Committee puts its stamp of approval on the new entry - it's time to fly it. Only after flying the engine, in a fully ducted internal installation and executing certain combinations of maneuvers and throttle manipulation, can one be sure that it is consumer ready.
We are happy to report that the P-70 passed our rigorous test in one of our F-86 Sabre jets. The installed thrust was 15-3/4 pounds on a 90° F day at sea level. Engine exhaust gas temperature at full throttle was 580°C and the full power fuel consumption measured 9.2oz/min with the first flight average being 8oz/min.

Top of its Class
Maximum Power / Minimum Size and weight

The all new JetCat P-70 is 3-3/4" in diameter, weighs just 2.6 pounds and produces 16.4 Lbs of thrust.
When first shown at Florida Jets '03, jet pilots were impressed with the compact appearance and the obvious application of JetCat's engineering and craftsmanship.
Many of the internal critical parts of this engine are the same, or similar to the time proven P-80 engine, and, since it produces the 16+ pounds at a very conservative (for this size engine) 120k RPM, we expect the P-70 to be a very long lasting and super reliable engine.
It is the perfect power plant for many BVM jets. The compact and light weight installation package, frees up space in the models and keeps landing speeds to a minimum.
The P-70 utilizes the same electronics with auto start and cool down features along with such safety items such as auto dump of the onboard propane after the start, and fly-away shut down if a 3 second interruption of the RF link occurs.
Markus Zipperer (co-owner with his father of JetCat) is a genius when it comes to electronic software design, therefore, it is no surprise that the JetCat electronics have earned a reputation for being the "smartest" in the industry.
BVM is excited about this engine and its contribution to the future of jet modeling. If you want to buy a P-70 - just give us a call at - 407-327-6333.
