The BVM F-86F has been on the market since 1987. Besides being a Fan Fly favorite for several years, it has won major scale competitions like Top Gun and the Scale Masters in the hands of Terry Nitsch, Ron Gilman, Kent Nogy and Bob Violett.

There are hundreds of these kits out there that can be converted to turbine power now that an appropriate size engine is available.

The JetCat P-60 is a perfect match for turbinizing this classic fighter. The weight and performance of the turbine version will be very similar to the .91 D.F. model but of course will have that awesome sound that has so many modelers enthused.

BVM has developed a complete conversion kit, professionally engineered and flight tested that allows these models to be strengthened and modernized.

The F-86 Turbine Conversion kit (F86TC1) includes a Carbon Fiber/Hi-Temp epoxy Bypass duct and engine cover, a replacement inlet duct (to fit existing nose inlet), and a double wall stainless steel tailpipe. A rear fuse heat shield and all hardware parts are supplied.

The 1.75 Liter fuel system allows close to 10 minute flights.

The critical wing mounting former (F-3) has been replaced with a solid Carbon Fiber version. The nose gear mounting former F-1 has been beefed up with a C.F. doubler and the additional wing mounts have been added to secure the wing to the fuse at the leading edge.

The main gear flex plates are strengthened with additional Carbon Fiber plates that mount to the top side and the correct screws are provided. Additional parts provide for mounting various components such as the engine, fuel pump, switches and an improved nose gear steering linkage.

The factory Sabre operates perfectly well with servo (2) operated main and nose retract units with Duro-Struts, BVM Wheels & Brakes. A seperate 6 volt 800 m.a.h. battery pack powers the system thus reducing the load on the receiver pack. A wiring diagram in the instructions allows the inclusion of a door cycler (Mini Hobby). We operate the doors with an air system (also used for the wheel brakes) and BVM door cylinders. This modification has been available for some time now. Ask for BVM #5587.

The JetCat P-60(or similar power turbine) requires less air than the ducted fan Viojett, so we molded a scale inlet nose cone (smaller opening) and a special inlet duct to match it. If you would like to improve the scale authenticity of your Sabre, ask for BVM #F86TC2. This kit contains all of the same parts as F86TC1 with the addition of the scale inlet and a duct to match.
