BVM's proven design
of this early USAF jet fighter
is a great canidate for turbine power.

With 11-14 pounds of thrust and a dry weight of 19lbs (including wing tanks) the F-80's performance is just right for those who are looking for a medium performance scale jet.
A single 2 Liter fuel cell and a U.A.T. provide about 8 minutes of very reliable flight time.
It flies very similar to the Viojett/BVM .91 powered model but with the sound of a turbine and a bit higher end speed.
We have the wing tip tanks (early Lockheed style) setup to drop in flight. When they are on, the model has increased presence and visibility. After you pickle them in flight, you will be flying a very aerodynamically clean and fuel efficient model. It will easily attain 180mph.
A full flap, full speed brake approach to landing will require about 1/2 throttle until descent on final giving the pilot total control of the touch down point.
So, here is a turbine powered scale jet that doesn't require a trailer to haul it or two men and a boy to pick it up, and, it will operate very comfortably from your local club field.

The orange and white NAVY version was called a TV-1. There were only about 50 of these A/C in operation in a few Naval Air Reserve squadrons, but it does make an easy to see, great looking model jet.
Should you get started in turbine flying with a BobCat, the F-80 will make a great second and scale jet to progress to that utilizes the same size engine.
