The F-86F kit

EVF powered

NOW with EVF Power!

The BVM Electric VioFan has now been adapted to the popular F-86 Sabre Jet. The performance with this power system and airframe combination is amazing!

We are very pleased with the performance of the F-86 with the Flight Power 30c 6400 2p 10s system.  The EVF 4010 pushes the 63" span Sabre at 150 mph, performing scale like loops and climbs with flight times in the 6-7 minute range.  After flight battery temps are 115°F on an 83°F day.

New Structures format under development.

FJ Fury available

A few cosmetic modifications to the F-86 such as a flat stab, different canopy shape, nose strut and door and some molded blisters for the fin allow us to have a pretty good rendition of the NAVY FJ Fury.
Multiple, colorful paint schemes make this version of the North American Aviation Fighter of the 50's an attractive alternative to the all aluminum Air Force Sabres.
A few different parts and plans allow an experienced modeler to make this conversion rather quickly.

Our second prototype was a NAVY F-J FURY version - see article below. This model was constructed so that our parts and instructions could adequately cover the following combinations:

F-86F USAF EVF or Turbine power
F-J FURY NAVY EVF or Turbine power

Tom Dodgen's FURY

Tom Dodgen built and painted this great looking FJ Fury from the new BVM kit. The color scheme was discovered in a Squadron Signal book, unfortunately out of print. Click here to view Fury paint schemes.
We use PPG Concept paints at BVM and do some color mixing ourselves. You can use the Testors Model Master paints that are available in Federal Standard numbers as examples to match the PPG.
All of these markings are available from ProMark as paint-through masks or epoxy ink transfers.

(10/09/07) Electric Retract Servo Access Hatch

This small hatch allows easy access to connect the retract push rod ball links to the servo wheel. If you transport your Sabre with the wings removed, this access is particularly handy. All Electric F-86 kits shipped after 10/09/07 will have the necessary parts included. If you have purchased a kit prior to todays date, call BVM and we will get the parts and instructions mailed out to you at no charge.

(10/09/07) Nose Gear Door

To assist in folding the two-piece front nose door during gear extension, we have added a spring that connects the door spring attachment base to the arm of the offset hinge. All Electric F-86 kits shipped after 10/09/07 will have the necessary parts included. If you have purchased a kit prior to todays date, call BVM and we will get the parts and instructions mailed out to you at no charge.

Hatch Fit Improvement

The hatch on our prototype spread out a bit and upset the fit to the fuselage. This simple rubber band addition solved the problem as it did on a MiG-15. Use one #64 rubber band doubled over. Make notch in hatch flange with a 3/32" carbide cutter.

Wing Servo Pockets

Some of these pockets are cut too deep for the laser cut servo tray.

Glue a soft 3/16” thick balsa piece to the top side and shape to fit the pocket depth. The 1/16” cover plate should be flush with the bottom wing skin. Make a thick mix of 5 minute epoxy and micro balloons and apply it to balsa shim and the 1/4” ply ends and place in wing pocket. Hold in position with the cover plate flush until the glue sets.
