A Spray-On Real Aluminum Finish

BVM's original Metal-Kote could produce a pretty convincing aluminum finish and models finished by Ian Richardson, Terry Nitsch (some parts of his F-100F) and Bob Violett won the most prestigious scale events in the world.
But, we admit it was difficult to work with.
Metal-Kote II is a formulation of the microscopic particles of aluminum in an alcohol base (original Metal-Kote) but now has a few new additives that greatly improve its adhesion and ease of application. A new thinner formula also assists the ease of application and is more tolerant of cool and humid atmospheric conditions.
The quantities of the product offerred in the Metal-Kote II kit are more in line with what is needed to finish models like the BVM F-100 or F-86 (80").
One of the great benefits of this new system is that you can apply ordinary masking tapes and computer cut masks over the clear coated finish, allowing the trim colors to then be applied.
Even without the clear coat, Metal-Kote II is resilent to moderate taping and handling allowing for some panel variation in the final affect.
Metal-Kote II is available now and comes with very detailed instructions on how to get the professional results you see on these models.
Just as the F-100 and the F-86 (80") are designed for use by fairly experienced modelers, so to is Metal-Kote II.
Properly applied, the results are a very convincing, spray painted on real aluminum panel finish.
