Mississippi Afterburner Fan Fly '99
The decision to attend the 7th annual Mississippi Afterburner event was delayed for a vehicle crisis. A 1999 Suburban 2500 with barely 200 miles on it was pressed into service immediately to get Sam Leonard and B.V. there in time. This SUV has the guts to melt the long trailering miles away, barely 13 hours door to door.
Sam helped prepare the MiG-15, Bandit T, balsa Bandit V, and the big twin Rafale for many flights keeping them fueled and charged. Lots of flying for all of the 67 attendees was smoothly arranged by Vernon Montgomery. He and his gracious helpers see to the pilots every needs including lunch, dinner, and entertainment.
The ability to store the models overnight in the airport hangar reduces the workload and allows more flying time.
Thanks to Vernon Montgomery and the Tri-City Cloud Dancers.

Ready for takeoff are Tom Dodgen and Bob Violett preparing for a formation flight. These turbine MiG-15's are an excellent aircraft for formation flying. |
| Tom Robertson and Doc Moore brought out there matching Fury's with turbine power. Both aircraft use Jetcat turbines limited to 10 lbs. of thrust. The performance was just right. They added reinforcement screws to wing L.E. root to fuse joint. More on this later. |

Bill Harris made it to Mississippi with his beautiful Blue Angels Bandit powered by a RAM 750. Bill logged many flights throughout the weekend. Notice the perfect landings - easy to achieve with the Bandit. With the sun behind him during afternoon flights, the colors on this Bandit were strikingly brilliant. |

Many customers comment on the beautiful profile view the Bandit presents, it is obivous in these photos. The Blue Angel paint scheme suits the Bandit well. You will see this and dozens of other Bandits at upcoming events like Heart of Ohio and Superman. |
