Retract System Troubleshooting

Should there be an internal air leak in a cylinder (air ram) it will initially show up (sound like) a problem in the selector valve.

The problem is caused by a defective or worn "O" ring or the air is bypassing the piston somehow.

If it is a BVM part, return it for repair or replacement.

Use forceps to pinch off air lines to isolate the problem.

Connect a lengthy piece of air tubing to the end of cylinder, submerge the end of the tube in water and hold the ram shaft in the mid stroke position. Apply air pressure to other end of cylinder and check for bubbles.
