Oil-Lite Wheel Bushings

During the past 2 years we have been introducing Oil-Lite bushings into our larger BVM jet wheels. As of March 1, 2002 all sizes of wheels have included this improvement.
Oil-lite is a porous sintered bronze bearing that is vacuum-impregnated with 18-20% SAE-30 oil. Heat created by the wheel's rotation draws the oil to the bearings surface. The oil acts as a cushion between the bearing and the axle, reducing wear and increasing resistance to shock loads.
These bushings require less maintenance and lubrication then the plain brass units and will give much longer life.

Replacements

All wheels returned for bushing replacement (after many flights) will be fitted with the Oil-Lite parts. Cost of the service is $12.00 per wheel, or $30 for a set of 3 plus return postage.
Oil-Lite bushings are a bit darker in color (than brass), and more porous in texture if viewed with a magnifying glass.
